Dental sealants are a bonding applied to the surface of teeth to help prevent dental decay. It is composed of a resin or glass ionomer, and is applied to fill in the grooves of posterior teeth. By preventing food from sticking in those grooves during the day dental sealants are an easy way to help prevent cavities from forming (in combination with good hygiene of course 🙂 )
No anesthesia or “drilling” is required to apply sealants, making dental sealants one of the easiest ways to protect teeth!
